Title:Ī Brief History of Chinese Poetry: Classical to Contemporary Students will come away from class with a basic appreciation of Chinese poetry and a better understanding of the role of literature in society. Students will be exposed to different styles of poetry (early, classical, and modern) and have an opportunity to create their own poem using a word bank that is drawn from poems discussed in class. The main goal of this lesson is to show students how art reflects the ideas and culture of a particular time and place through the analysis of several representative Chinese poems.
